Yok Don National Park and Ban Don eco-tourism area are located quite far from Ho Chi Minh city (400 km); they are also far from other cities like Da Lat (200 km), Nha Trang (150 km), Pleiku (220 km). However, this site is easy to get to from other cities; one of them is Da Lat plateau by car. If you start from Ho Chi Minh City, private car transportation or bus takes about 10 hours. It is also possible to take a regularly-scheduled commercial flight from Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City or Ha Noi to Ban Me Thuot airport.
Target birds at Yok Don National Park and Ban Don eco-tourism area are Mekong Wagtail (which is also found in Kratie, Cambodia but that is also too far from Phnom Penh/Siem Reap). We should stay in Ban Me Thuot or Ban Don tourist area for at least one night if you want to see more bird species. White-rumped falcon, Collared falconet, Black-headed woodpecker and many other types, Chestnut-bellied (Burmese) Nuthatch, White-browed Fantail,... are among specialties seen at Ban Me Thuot and the Ban Don tourist area.
