This 3-day itinerary offers a perfect blend of rich culture and incredible birding in the heart of the Mekong Delta. To ensure the perfect trip, we offer two customizable options tailored to your specific interests:

• Full-Time Birding: Optimized for dedicated birdwatchers who want to spend every sunrise and sunset in the field maximizing species counts.
• Culture & Sightseeing: Ideal for travelers who want to experience the delta's vibrant local traditions, historic sites, and scenic landscapes alongside relaxed wildlife viewing.

Itinerary:

• Day 1: Optional

Option 1: Cultural interests & sight-seeing

Hotel pickup in the morning, drive to My Tho or Cai Be for a boat trip on the Mekong River. Explore fruit orchads and enjoy traditional folk music “Đờn ca tài tử”, visit a local bee farm, and see how traditional coconut candy is made. 

Afterward, we drive to Xeo Quyt Relic for a blend of historical sighseeing and do birdwatching. Later, we headto Tram Chim National Park, then birding along the park's boundary/dikes (if we have enough time). Stay overnight at Wildbird Hotel for 2 nights.

Option 2: Full-time birding

Pickup at hotel in Ho Chi Minh City, drive to Tan Thanh beach in Go Cong for Spoon-billed Sandpiper (see our Spoon-billed Sandpiper tour). Later, drive to Tram Chim National Park and stay overnight at Wildbird Hotel for 2 nights.

• Day 2: Full-day birding in Tram Chim National Park, we will take a boat trip along river channels to Zone A1 to look for many waterbirds including Purple Swarmphen, Brozne-winged & Pheasant-tailed Jacanas, Spot-billed Duck, Egrets, Herons, Bitterns, Kingfishers, and some waders. The songbirds that we should see are Striated Grassbird, several different Reed-warblers (Black-browed, Oriental), Weaver, Munia, Sunbirds, Common Iora, Golden-bellied Gerygone, Pied Fantail and others.
• Day 3: Morning birding, then we leave Tram Chim after lunch to drive back to Ho Chi Minh city. On the way back, we might visit Cao Dai temple if there is interest in doing so. Drop off at the hotel/airport and tour end.
