Tan Phu - Orange-necked Partridge

Short birding tours
Tan Phu forest
2 days
102 - 390 USD/person

Similar to Cat Tien National Park in terms of habitat, but Tan Phu is closer Ho Chi Minh City; this site is perfect for those who don't have enough time to visit Cat Tien. We can visit Tan Phu for a day-tour; however it is better to spend at least one night at Dinh Quan town to have more time to enjoy many excellent species to be seen there. This is also the best site for the elusive Orange-necked partridge, which is very difficult to see in Cat Tien.

Day 1. Pick up in Sai Gon in the early morning, and a 2.5-hour drive to the forest, and then we start birding. Overnight at Dinh Quan town.

Day 2. Birding from the early morning till late afternoon, then we drive back to Sai Gon

Bird highlights: Orange-necked partridge,  Siamese Fireback,  Blue-rumped and Bar-bellied Pittas, Black-and-buff woodpeckers, Black-and-red, Banded and Dusky broadbills, Grey-faced tit-babbler.

Number species we expect to see: About 80 spp.
